Alcohol Addiction & Recovery therapy in SHALIMAR, fl

Free yourself from alcohol’s grip.

Get to the root of your desire to drink and regain your sense of control. Whether the goal is to stay sober or simply cut back, with the right support, you can do this.

You’ve tried to get a handle on this by yourself, but it’s not working.

The shame and embarrassment, the hangovers, the fights and ultimatums. It’s time for a change.

It’s a weird place to be: hating your desire to drink while also feeling like it’s the only thing you look forward to. Maybe you’ve already been to treatment and are ready to commit to long-term recovery, or you might just be exploring the idea that you could have a problem with alcohol.

But no one has to tell you that you have a lot to lose in life. It’s why your drinking is so frustrating: because despite knowing what it could cost you, it still controls you.

How Addiction & Recovery Therapy works

This is about so much more than “just stopping.”

Addiction isn’t a moral failure. It’s not a sign of weakness or character fault. It’s a condition of the brain.

In therapy with me, you’ll be met with dignity, respect, and over 15 years of experience in addiction treatment. We’re not simply going to look at ways to stop drinking; we’re also going to explore what led you to overdrink in the first place. You’ll gain insight into your own experience that can help you separate your alcohol use from your view of yourself—someone who is capable and worthy of a healthy, fulfilling, and joyful life.

Let’s dig into why you struggle to stop or cut back and how you can take back the reins in your life.

I’ll help you…

  • Understand the mechanisms behind drinking and addiction.

I can provide education about why addiction happens, why you struggle when others don’t appear to, and what happens at the brain and body level when you drink.

  • Explore the root causes of your drinking habits.

We’ll look at both past and present, understanding what’s led to and contributed to your drinking. You’ll be able to see how alcohol used to benefit you and the ways it no longer does.

  • Create a Sober Plan that helps you stay on track.

Maybe you plan to stop drinking entirely. Maybe you’d just like to moderate your drinking. Either way, I’ll help you create a plan that includes the support and accountability of loved ones.

Are you a loved one looking for support?

I’m here for you, too.

In addition to working with people with addiction, I also provide therapy for their family members—either as an individual or a family. Contact me to discuss whether I’m the right fit for you.

Imagine a life no longer defined by alcohol.

On the other side of this work are relationships that fulfill you, a renewed sense of purpose and drive, and a newfound control over your life, your decisions, and your future.

You can do this.

And you can start right now.

Frequently asked questions

  • Addiction looks a little bit different for everyone, but common signs include things like:

    • Increased tolerance—needing higher amounts to achieve the same feeling

    • Withdrawal symptoms when you do abstain, such as headachaes or other physical issues

    • Failed attempts to cut down or quit—you’ve tried to “just stop,” but it hasn’t worked

    • Continued drinking despite negative the consequences and impacts on relationships or career

  • The short answer is no. Programs like AA aren’t for everyone, and we can discuss what “recovery” from alcohol addiction would ideally look like for you.

  • That’s perfectly okay. If you’d prefer to take a “harm reduction” approach to drinking, meaning we make a plan and progress toward moderation rather than complete abstinence, we can do that too. You and I will work together to define what your goals are, and go from there—you’re in the driver’s seat, not me.

  • Research shows us that addiction is a complex condition influenced by various factors, which may include genetic predisposition, environmental elements, traumatic experiences, or psychological disorders. Together, we’ll find the root of your relationship with substances, and a way for you to move forward.

  • Yes. I work with any type of substance, including:

    • Prescription medication

    • Pain medication

    • Cocaine

    • THC/marijuana

    • Benzodiazepines

Note: Clients cannot be under the influence of any substance during therapy sessions. If a client appears intoxicated, the session will not continue.

  • For many of my clients, traditional talk therapy simply hasn’t been enough to gain a sense of control over addiction. That’s why I put emphasis on alternative techniques like EMDR and ART, which allow us to physically change neural pathways in the brain that are linked with alcohol use.

  • You’re going to get the most out of therapy if you’re working with someone you feel truly comfortable with. Click this link to schedule a free consultation with me.
